Slap Magazine Dec 2006: Duane Peters, Anthony Pappalardo, Sissys, Robbery

Before I get started I want to give my props to Tino Razo on getting married. We need more Andy Roys and Duane Peters on skateboards because skateboarding is now officially a sissy fax X-treme sport. My homeboy works at a skateshop, and he told me kids are buying boards  to match their shoes. If Duane Peters saw that, he would smash their head with a can of Bud. What’s the deal with parents coaching their kids on skateboards? I saw that at Union Square so I did circles around the dad, grilling him down. Eventually he got the message and left. not only was he a dad skate coach, but he also made his 14-year-old son wear a helmet — and they weren’t even at a skatepark. I understand he doesn’t want his baby to hit his head, but if he’s that concerned don’t give him a skateboard to begin with.

I’ve been hammering it down for 20 years; I have the right to hate any poser I want. I well never step foot at a skatepark unless I smoked at least five nicks. My skatepark is the streets of New York City. my obstacles are garbage cans, bums, junkies, cabs, and pedestrians. I’d rather slam into some idiot with matching shoes and board. I don’t care what the coolest trick is; I do what I want to do. I only need one judge, and it’s not my daddy. I will be the judge. I have the skills to pay my own bills. NYC is run by yuppies so you don’t have to be tough anymore to skate the city. If Anthony Pappalardo lives in The City, any wimp can do it. I am going to start taking it old school by robbing boards. That’s the way it was 15 years ago.

Response:

Maybe your best letter in years, Shaggy, aside from dissing Pops. That was weak. But the Andy Roy reference, the can smashing, the phrase “grilling down,” and the unsubstantiated threat of robbery were all quality moves on your part. Stay grimy and anonymous out there.

Shaggy Note: Google Andy Roy Big Brother interview. It’s the sickest interview I ever read.
